Exclamation Why trading tips does not work

Hi,

We have many trading tips coming from brokers, medias, books, forums etc. But it never seems to work most of the time.

We can discuss the reason why the trading tips does not work in this thread.

These reasons can help the members to rethink if they need to take a trading
tip or not.

Hope everyone contributes.

My first reason is:

By the time you decide to take a tip you receive a number of other tips from many other sources.

Due to human mentality you try to judge the correct one and most of the
time end up in taking the wrong tip and meanwhile the first one would have
worked.

Media I have no idea but m Most (sub)brokers which give you tip are more or less skilled to level what most members are. The best of the lot we do not have access to them.

Media in the sense TV channels and their websites and trade monthlys etc.

Stoplosses are really saving the tip giver rather than the trader.

The tip giver can escape either ways. If the target is reached he says tip worked. If stop loss hit. He says stop loss hit. In either ways he is safe.

What is the basis of the assumption that tips should work ?
If tips from magazines were to work in the long term, why does the magazine make money publishing magazines ? Wouldn't they make more money trading on their own tips ?

The tips system is a pyramid. Tips flow from the top to bottom, and money flows from the bottom to the top.

Interesting Thread. In my view, the tips does not work because of the emotional and pschological factors that affects the trader. Risk management, money management and emotional control are not mentioned by the person who is giving the tip. If trader is booking profit early (because market might snatch it from him) and letting the losses run (becuase some expert gave the tip hence it can't be worng) then certianly he/she is doing exactly opposite of what has been the basic rule of Trading - "Let profit run and cut losses quickly".

If trader is not taking responsibility of his/her action, then it is difficult to succeed in long run.

Happy Trading.

In my view it is because:
1. Traders have to give tips daily (particularly in paid services) even if though no worthwhile trades are there.
2. They have to mention with the tip that they do not have any position in the scrip.
With regards, Citrus

Nice one, why should they work in first place?

Their are meant for front running...

Agreed with Adheer, by the time a tip goes "public", it is safe to assume that the stock has topped out. Maybe one should fade these too !
