The people who are not starving and have roti kapra makan, why they are interested in this? The time-consuming,selfish people's game.....it goes on and on and on.....for 5 days!!! It's not entertainment,it is soaking our country's youth! Soccer is entertainment.Japan banned cricket rightly. And our country?

"The English are not very spiritual people, so they invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity." - G.B.Shaw

To bring smile to the starving people, for them who are below the poverty line,we need industry and cricket is a bad industry. It should be replaced by football.

"Cricket is a game played by 22 fools and watched by 22,000 fools" - G.B.Shaw

why dont we indians grow up? why does it bother us to see people earn millions?

I FEEL that all indians have the right to earn at par with their counterparts in the world. and i applaud anyone who achieves the FEAT

Is it because after years of slavery, a salary of 50000 rs seems such a lot to us? We denounce anyone who earns more. why? why does our salaries have to be less than 1/10th or others in the world?

Some says, cricket shud be replaced by football. Do you know how much beckam earns a year? are there no poor people in england?

As for G.B shaw, i pity on his knowledge of cricket. he should not comment on anything non-america when we never comment on so called american soccer.

So do u know how much Beckham earns? He can buy and sell these Tendulkars and Dhonis in no time! Do u know why? Coz football is a spectator's game played by almost all the countries in the world, thus making the value to the sky.And cricket? 9 or 10 test playing nations? So what is its industry value? Although 100 crores of Indians know their team is nowhere in soccer, still the worldcup soccer is a festival here too,and the biggest sports event in the world is not olympics, dear, it's football world cup!

And who told u we are bothered about the cricketers' earnings? We want the public to earn alongwith our sportspersons, like in trading we don't bother about our broker's earnings.....we just want to earn alongwith him.
One Tendulkar earns crores and the poor idiots in the village wasting their time the whole day before the tv,spoiling their exams. Is this entertainment? Think of Sharukh doing Om Shanti Om Shanti Om shanti Om.....and there are 15 Sharukhs in that film instead of 2,and the film taking 10 hours to complete. Will then it be called entertainment? It will be torture!

And please don't pity G.B.Shaw's knowledge, who is the sole personality to win both Noble prize and Oscar, instead pity your knowledge. He was not an American, buddy,he was Irish and turned British.

Coz football is a spectator's game played by almost all the countries in the world, thus making the value to the sky and making all people watching football richer as per your paraghraph 2?.And cricket? 9 or 10 test playing nations? So what is its industry value? Although 100 crores of Indians know their team is nowhere in soccer, still the worldcup soccer is a festival here too,and the biggest sports event in the world is not olympics, dear, it's football world cup! How many countries participate in basketball or american soccer? do you know how much these players earn? Dnt be hypocrat dude. think before you speak.

And who told u we are bothered about the cricketers' earnings? We want the public to earn alongwith our sportspersons as far as i know none of the britishers earn along with bekham, like in trading we don't bother about our broker's earnings.....we just want to earn alongwith him.

It will be torture! its totally subjective. there are crores who would love this concept

And please don't pity G.B.Shaw's knowledge, who is the sole personality to win both Noble prize and Oscar, instead pity your knowledge. He was not an American, buddy,he was Irish and turned British. < never said that. anyways he was known for hi utter disregard for anything conventional. he earned his living by flouting what me and you think are normal routine things.>
So you want a fight? dont be a hypocrat. try and think un-biased. you criticise people for being cricket afficianados and you yourself support football with your life.

Anyways, Here are few points from me worth considering:

1. football was not born popular. at some stage it was as naive as cricket is. this initiative in cricket is to copy footballs mantra (buying and selling players) and go global.

2. BCCI intends to share its revenue with all boards. I think it is because it wants IPL to be global. In a few years, you can expect IPL played in US with US team lead by sachin. It is a tried and tested formulae that worked in footbal and is now being applied in cricket.

3. Last but not the least, dude, you are straying off the subject. the discussion is not wether football is better or not. My point was "all indians have the right to earn at par with their counterparts in the world".

I am not sure about the success of these kind of tournaments. For a viewer this is just a Tamasha or an exhibition match. Mostly we watch matches against Australia or Pakistan because our country is involved and much at stake. Equating IPL to NBA series in US is taking it bit too far...because in US they don’t often play against different countries and hence call the domestic series as World Series for apparent reason.

It’s hard to imagine someone to identify or root for a particular team just because he is from Mumbai or Bangalore. Just look at the some of the Players selected for the Bangalore Team... Dravid,Chandrapaul, Kallies, Wasim Jaffer ..Is this a 20/20 team or a team to play out draw and save a game on the last day of the test match? I am not sure why they left out Akash Chopra in this team He would have wasted another 5 overs easily. Some of them have not even played 20/20 matches before and not sure they will last till the duration of the contract. BCCI should have utilized these funds to build some stadiums and provide international class facilities, Scholarships etc. But In India who cares, it’s not our money!

It is on the lines of county cricket.
