Okay, here's my recent problem.

I am a day trader. So, I wait for the next good setup in the markets I follow. In the meantime, I watch youtube videos, read a couple of articles(not news) and basically spend my time on the internet.

What's happening is that I'm getting distracted and exhausted. For example, I was binge watching youtube videos yesterday while I waited three hours for a good setup to form. So, after those three hours I find myself exhuasted, distracted and unable to trade correctly. I keep on making the beginner mistakes:annoyed:!

I personally don't want to watch youtube again while waiting for a trade.

What do you guys do while you're not trading(I mean waiting for a setup)? Give me some ideas to spend my free time.

seems like you are not considering day trading as business. i normally dont do any other thing than keeping my self alert and reading chart through out the trading hours. if i got my day's tgt then i do other time pass activities like surfing forums etc. till tgt just be alert and focus on chart reading.

Mostly you should be looking at charts thinking about setups, you are not super human, you will miss things and setups if you are distracted, sometimes when setup is super clear even then, so either start swing trading or be disciplined

Avoid visual distractions at all costs during trading hours.

I put on ear phones with some soothing music. For me, music is not a distraction but a mind booster.:) Try it if it suits you too.

Frankly speaking, i also face similar problem. I m planning to be more active on TJ and start posting every 30 or 60 min, in my thread abt the way i see the price action. I hope it ll help me.
As someone pointed out above, i have 2 monitors. In one monitor chart is always open, so basically i keep an eye but still if more interesting stuff from youtube(non trading related) keeps on playing, i loose concentration in trading. :(

I have a international radio station playing at low volume in the background at all times playing some nice classic rock. So if I'm not on a trade or my ideal setup seems far away I'm watching some trading related videoes on YouTube ( like trading with rayner etc ) and humming along to a favourite tune:D

I think who is full time day trader should not be busy with non trading subjects, though I am not full time day trader I am suggesting this. your trading set up may come within 0 second to many hours........pls, take one example, suppose you have one retail shop and everyday your selling avg is say 5000/- p/day and suppose you have not get any customer today, what you will do after this ?? surely you will not close your shop or will not be busy with other commitments because hopping to get some customers may come into your shop ......
