What is DIS (Market) Charges NSDL/CDSL

#1
Hi All, I am new to trading. I am using geogit's services. While looking at my account summary, I have been charged with Rs 25/- for two consecutive days ie on 21st and 22nd under the heading

DIS (Market) Charges NSDL/CDSL From 21.03.2016-21.03.2016
and
DIS (Market) Charges NSDL/CDSL From 22.03.2016-22.03.2016

What exactly are these? Why is this charge?? If it helps, I can walk you through what I have done on those days

On 21st, I did intraday buy and sell of 4 stocks, and sold 5 shares of just dial which I bought some time back.

On 22nd I did intraday short and cover of some 3 stocks, and sold shares of 2 stocks which I bought some time back.

Basic study on this topic gave me some leads like, I am selling the stocks from my demat and DP charges for that, so I thought Geogit is charging Rs 25 per day for that. But why is it so high? Is it same for other brokers?? Am I wrong???

Also, In my account summary, I could see that pending dues are for Rs 55. If the charges are Rs 50 for above 2 transactions, then where did I get Rs 5 extra? Are they charging interest for not paying due?? In that case how do I pay due. I have approx 8000 cash in my trading account.

I could wait and call their customer care, but they are closed temporarily and I am not getting sleep because of this unanswered doubt.

DIS is delivery instruction charges, you are probably not doing intraday but taking delivery which is why geojit is collecting those charges on behalf of CDSL or NSDL.
