TraderNiftyBull,
1. Not yet using Jan Aushadi, as keeping to doctor prescribed medicines. But it is worth a thought - if the medical bills are substantial.
2. Another option is to order online and avail of cheaper prices for the same medicines without resorting to brand change.
3. In Mumbai, it is an accepted practice for the chemist to give upto 10% discount if buying from the same shop. Many people are not aware that they can ask for a discount, but I avail this discount regularly.
4. In case of hospitalization in private hospital or for critical illness where medical bills can be huge, it is advisable to not buy medicines in house (where the market rates are charged) The same medicines can be bought outside for upto 40% discount for high value items. Even the premier medical chain in Mumbai - Noble Chemist gives this discount if negotiated. (Know this from practical experience)
5. And finally, a medical policy is a must for all. Especially, a family policy where the premiums can be substantially lower if all members join together.
My 2C.

Any one here buying/using generic medicines from Jan Aushadhi medicine shops (or to say other medicine shops).
