Sir,

For the benefits of Traderjii members, I would like to narrate my experience with Tata Indicom CDMA mobile. Kindly spare 2 mins. for reading this.

I was subscribing to this mobile service vide a/c. number 200299311, since Aug 2003. Eversince, till date, they hv never replied to any of e-mails, registered letters.

Secondly, In feb 2004, I observed that they were charging for: call waiting, call forward, call forward immediate, call forward no answer, LM 3 way conference etc. I objected to this as I had never asked for these facilities, nor till date I know what these are all about. As billing continued, I had no option but to deduct these charges and make payment towards bills. But they used to carry over unpaid amt. in the subsequent bills. In Sept. 04, I did not receive bill and asked for copy to enable me to make payment after deducting extra charges. They did not bother to send the duplicate, instead discontinued my mobile, due to which I had to go in for another mobile from Hutch.

Still more interesting facts. The calls used to get metered the moment u press call button. This apart, all misscalls were also being metered. In July, I dialled by son. His mobile was off. Therefore, dialled to his friend at Chennai. I came to know that my son's mobile was off for want of roaming facility, as they were away from Chennai. But these calls were billed. I got little confused. But my fear confirmed when I was unable to contact my son thr: e-mails which I used do normally, and therefore, called up him repeatedly on his mobile on 24th Aug 2004. Only final call was thr: when he told me that his mobile was off since he was in conference/meeting. On 27th, I received bill in which I observed that all 6 calls (5 of them not-responded calls) were also billed. When I took up the matter with customer care on phone, the answer given to me was as to how I could finish my talk in 15 seconds?. (i.e. last call ended only 15 seconds as I just wanted to know why he had not responded to my mail).

Finally, they sent their representative to collect the dues for the period not used by me as well as towards the cost of instrument. As I did not want to any tension, I cleared all dues as per their demand on 8th April 05. They promised refund of my deposits of Rs. 999/- and Rs. 1000/- towards STD. But there is no clue of it till date.

Instead; recently I was sent legal notice. I replied to that and gave them ultimatum to refund my amt. or face action from my side. I am waiting till Nov 15, after which, I propose to take legal action.

Meanwhile, I would like to inform all members to know about Tata indicom and educate others falling prey to these elements. I hv evidence with me that they had changed instruments in case of corporate consumers and I beleive that some of their clients like me might be continuing to suffer at their hands. Hence, this advice. Kindly make vide publicity in the interest consumers.

If any body can help to guide further, I well come. I propose to approach consumer court through: icrpc (International Consumer Rights Protection Council). In case any one else is facing similar problem and would like to join, we may take joint action for our mutual benefits. Please come forward to fight for injustice.

Hi bangerabs, I had its prepaid CDMA cell connection 3 yrs back, the kyocera one. I found that the plans cost less monthly than the cheapest service in Delhi, except MTNL. I used the cell very roughly for a year. It required service once wen its mainboard crashed, and it was promptly don in 2 hrs., outperforming any other service centres. After a year I sold it for 'lil bucks.
Few of my friends who use its postpaid service say that the billing and plans are far more transparent to what reliance provides (in Delhi).
But yours is a case of repetive fraud. I think its better to bring the power of law as much possible.
