A nice collection of facts , old and new, makes us feel proud of India.

Why are we still underdevelopped? Why vast majority of Indians are poor and why farmers are commiting suicide and children die of hunger?

Many more such questions are in my mind.

I feel sad that inspite of all these achievements we are not yet THERE.

A nice delusional phrase we have created and living by it for last 40 yrs. Basically one is either developed or underdeveloped. Developing means we are trying that's all.Of course 20000 farmers commits suicide( number more than previous years), from 64 crs of Bofors we have progressed to 2000 crs and more. Of course we are developing.Do you know how ? Many people are deprived of basic things in life which we take for granted. We just have to look around us with open eyes. That is why I say always that we have come far but not yet there as the fruits and progress of development is confined to a few. Green revolution was confined to 2-1/2 states. Think what would have happened if it spread to rest of India. My purpose was not to contest teh achievements which I know almost by heart but to tell the distance yet to be covered in order to become developed.(Mostly software is written in english not in sanskrit though it is the most logical language . why...?)

There is an equally impressive list of our achievements better not to be told anywhere but to work to rectify them. We can do that by doing what SATYA mentioned in his post.

Hi ganesh

Just to add a point.
China was not even a member of UN. India supported it to become member of UN ( over US supported highly developed Taiwan known for electronics induatries among others). China is now a developed nation with a veto power. Where did we miss the bus? Even today we sing praise of chinese economy's scorching pace of growth.Comodity prices are driven by china?

Too many factors and parameters are there. Not the one to debate it. But why are we lagging behind? I think we are too tolerant and also complascent. Take things for granted. Chalta Hai ganesh bhai
