Please do not ask for the code its just using widely available super trend AFL and for optimization of Profit Stop added this one line

PHP:
ApplyStop(1,2,Optimize("Profit_Stop",125,25,1500,25));
With optimization on the old data we always get amazing results due to curve fitting, but here not discussing that.

We can see from the above that with small profit stops the same systems gives awesome Win/Loss Ratios but with great win/loss the profitability goes to dogs, with optimum RR the win/loss usually dips below 50/45%

Also any level of profit booking always reduces the overall profit in the system.

Theory is one thing, in practice we will be booking gains but with this understanding that letting it run is always the best strategy.

Thanks

Hello

Intraday trading is interesting, fun & exciting where as Swing trading is almost always boring :D

So lets see if this boring will also be profitable :thumb:

I will be trading BNF Swing, no fixed system with arrows, but using an intuitive with the trend approach.

The Hourly charts on BNF give just 6 1/2 bars per day where as the 15 Minutes is too fast for a swing system,
so as per my comfort level will go with the 30 minutes chart.

Watching the April expiry charts I would be long today but did not carry the long position as tomorrow is expiry.

As of now my inclination is to look for creating a long position on May expiry.

Thanks
Wish you all the best.:thumb:
Happy Trading.

Hello

With Nifty down by 1% in the opening session, was not sure about where BNF will head for . . .

Eventually BNF deciding to go nowhere . . . staying in the 1/2% zone . . . so there seems no rush for the price to take sides . . .

Have Bought 1 lot as a test long on May future xx400 . . . will carry if May closes above xx500 today, else will start afresh in next session

Thanks
BNF Stopped out :)

The test failed and also shooting down the case for Long Position . . .

so back to waiting for some more clarity in direction . . .

Thanks

best wishes for swing trading BNF :thumb:
BTW , 18500 x 25 = 462500
so how much capital needed for 1 lot BNF swing, 1.5 lakhs ?

As rule of thumb, I would say

For Nifty 2X of margin required

For BNF 2.5 times of margin required

When we are "swing trading" it will never be a static on/off system, like using only SAR and only trading the the two signals (Long/Short), there will be scale-in/scale-outs. Building the position when the situation is favorable is what makes swing trading profitable. So while considering risk capital requirements one needs to also take into account this aspect.

But ultimately for deciding capital requirements, everyone have their own comfort level, and I strongly believe one should actually go with their own feel of things.

Thanks
