The gold listed for each of the countries in the table may not be physically stored in the country listed, as central banks generally have not allowed independent audits of their reserves.

No one really knows if the gold is there or not.

Gold is last hope for every countries and rarely countries try that selling as all would know that after that they have nothing to sell

I am not sure whether their gold holdings are enough to cover their debt. The problem is with debt based monetary system the whole world is following. With this fiat system, there are bound to be losers.
