how to analyse business model of a company for long term investment

Hi everybody. I am a new investor in the stock markets. Can anyone tell me how do I assess the business model of a company,its management, whether the company has any competitive advantages or not.Basically I want to know the source of information from where i can perform qualitative analysis.
