Financial data for fundamental analysis

#1
Hi All,

I have read some very good threads on traderji on how to conduct fundamental analysis. I am interested in knowing from where can we source fundamental data for doing this analysis.

a) Ofcourse annual reports are the best source but to do a ratio analysis for 10 companies it is not feasible to manually go to 10 annual reports.

b) The paid sources are Bloomberg / Reuters but which are the free sources specific to India. As an individual I cannot access Bloomberg so where should I look

c) Is there any source from where I can get information like revenues, ebit, net income etc directly into excel and start number crunching at my end.

Typically I would advise you to use the CMIE Prowess data base. That's what I used to use and also if you observe what Economic times use in their analyses. But it costs the whereabouts of 1 lakh per year for a subscription.
Other alternative sources are :
Myiris.com
enamdirect.com
Money control affiliate indiaearnings.com is an excellent confirmed source.

Annual reports are needed to check out the off-balance sheet items like lease payments which can totally change your perspective on the figures, like accounting changes that Reliance and others is so famous for. Recently M&M changed Tech Mahindras relationship from subsidiary to minority ownership so the figures are not comparable over previous year. And it goes on...
