P/E ratio. Various Sector P/E ratio..

#1
Hi.

i am a new guy here.
I read somewhere that, go for stocks with the low P/E level.

Also, it stated that low PE level (the right PE level at which we can buy the stock) differs from sector to sector.

Please tell me whether the statement is true? also can anyone provide the PE level sectorwise at which the stock can be bought??

Hi,

A warm welcome to Traderji! Well I'm afraid it may not be that simple but you are correct the P/E ratio is to be looked at relative to the P/E for the Sector and industry, nevertheless this not meant a low P/E ratio would be a good investment there are several other things to consider. If you are interested in investing based on fundamentals I would recommend William O' Neil's CANSLIM

If you are looking for P/E ratio's industry wise you can find the information in the data bank section of the Dalal Street Journal magazine.

as explained by marcus, dalal street journal data bank is the best to know the p/e ratio of individual companies and industrywise also.
p/e ratio is = market price of the share / earnings per share. So, as long as price is less or as long as Earnings per share is more, the p/e ratio will be less.
