ya Even I trying to find out the exact reason and future prospects on this sector. I found that most of these IT companies are export oriented and USD$ dependent. So as Rs became strong it was expected they will be loosing some of profits

Secondly the attrition and challange to retain top resources by this IT companies is a challenge in future.

The markets reacted and most of these companies hit the bottom. Even i found the top IT and TEch funds din't gained this year.. You do a search this year you will find them at the bottom.

But for me it seems a buying opportunity and already got Magnum IT, DSP Technology & ICICI pru to my portfolio
However till my order was executed this guys started moving up.. so couldn't catch up the bottom

so take it as buying opportunity as technology can't be down for long time. long term i see good prospects.

There is no rule like - 'if the companies post positive results, it should not touch 52 week lows'

They are off the bottom now, if the Jan results are good for the company then the following will be proved
1) dollar weakness has been offset by hedging and other risk management techniques
2) US slowing down has not affected contracts/new orders not as bad as it was thought to effect
3) IT companies are able to manage these factors by cost cutting and by improving efficiency.

watch out for infosys results and guidance, a lot will depend on it going forward.
