USDINR Trading by a Bank trader

#1
I see very little information being shared on internet about USDINR currency futures trading.
Whatever little info is there on internet, that also focusses on just directional trading on USDINR.
how many people here know that calendar spreads trading is very profitable in USDINR. It requires very little margin and can get good returns to investors.
Also, there a few very simple directional strategies which generate regular income.

I will share all my knowledge here in this thread, if there is any interest and if you ask me questions. Else, the thread will die.

Oh.. I almost forgot to introduce myself. I am a forex trader with one of the top 3 banks in the world with over 6 years of experience. Trading - is what I do for my living and only thing I know.

I will share my simple strategies to trade USDINR futures, calendar spreads and options.

So, please start asking me questions.

quick question :

There has always been the thinking that currency trading is dampened due to brokerage.

If you have been exposed to retail trading and the brokerage involved, could you share your views on what to expect in terms costs involved. Iam using Zerodha and can have the currency segment enabled if found lucrative.
Example: when i trade crude, i know at the back of my mind that around rs.150[roughly] would be my cost [bge and taxes] and i can scalp/trade accordingly.

so, how many ticks/points [decimal i believe is to the 5th digit] do you expect from your profitable trades?

do you do intraday trading?

thanks.

Bhai, which broker/software gives you calendar spreads in NSE-CDS ?? It's certainly not available in NOW. So you will need to have enough margin for both the legs of the strategy.

Calendar spreads require only 1000 rupees margin per lot.
Brokerage - as told to me by a broker - is 5 rupees per lot with possibility to decrease if you do big volumes. So that would mean 1 paisa breakeven for you.
Which broker ?? Which software ?

NOW certainly has calendar spreads.
First strategy I want to share is a regular pattern you see every month.

Sell the 2mnth over 1 mnth spread if its above 28 after the 20th of the month. And square it a day before expiry. You will invariably make 5-6 paisa. This is due to exporter roll overs into month end.
I will share more usdinr directional strategies in later posts.
More questions are welcome :)

Yes, I saw it. Tried it. It is asking for Rs. 2028 as margin, not Rs. 1000.
