"Well actually, brokers are a shadowy sinister concept floating in the subconscious of retail traders. What they really are, and, what we think they are, is most likely two separate realities.

There are two basic kinds of brokers. A dealing desk,He is kind of like a bookie. The dealing broker covers your trade. If you win, he loses. Traders lose 95% of the time because most are new, inexperienced and got gold fever. The dealing desk gives fixed spreads, attractive swap rates and most of the time you pay him for that extra generosity by losing to him instead of to the banks.

The banks and insurance companies are the main force behind the forex market. They are the conduit through which all the currencies flow. Major corporations have a direct pipe to these conduits because they need to pay workers in a different currency than the one in which the sale was made.

Brokers are backed by a bank. Probably not a retail bank but Bank of America is both types so it could be. If the brokers computer combines all the traders orders together on one feed and passes them on to the banks, that is an ECN. I actually knew what that stood for at one time. The dealing desk is when your trades don't make it to the bank, it is covered by the broker.

The GoldenGrid system doesn't lose many trades but believe it or not, the system is good for the market (banks). But, it would be very bad for dealing desk brokers who would lose all the time. The discussion about brokers is that we are pushing for a win-win-win situation, where brokers work with us so they can win when we do. Idntifying brokers that use those tricks to get more trades are for one motovated by you losing and two - unethical. This is why we recomend a couple that we have had on-going success with.

Up until recently, ECNs required you to trade whole standard lots. This takes a lot of money. But with the success of ECN type of accounts offered through regular brokers, there are more and more ECNs becoming avaiable. They are competeing for limited investors, so the entry price and the required trading amounts are coming down.

There is one that looks particularly interesting that we are checking out. They have just added the MetaTrader paltform and trades micros. They are still working out the bugs but from what we can see so far, when it is ready for traders, we will be letting you all know. "
