How to configure two DIFFERENT databases in FChart PRO

#1
Hello
I wanted to know how to configure two different databases, say one which contains NSE EQUITY EOD Data and the other for NSE OPTIONS Data.
By default, if i mix the two, it would be a long list (if saved in the default folder). Hence wanted to know how to configure both and CHOOSE ONE AT A TIME and use the data.
Thanks in advance.

You can any number of databases in FCP.

From the Community Manual ... Click (Right or left) on the BSE symbol and click 'Add'.

(Only another 'thousand and one' questions it will answer for you.)

Simple.

Hi Feel-me,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
If I'm not mistaken, u're trying to hint out as to HOW TO ADD a new symbol...
RIGHT???
If that is the case (and maybe my earlier msg did not come out with my point), this is NOT WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR...
Simply, my requirement is as follows:
Database 1: Say at the EOD 22/10/2009, I want to upload the NSE Equity OHLC data - which get updated in the default directory. I can use this data to scan / observe the EQUITY part of NSE Trading.
Database 2: I want to HAVE ANOTHER DATABASE of Options data (WHICH WILL NOT DISPLAY NSE "EQUITY DATA) i.e. it will show only options data and no equity.

Reason for asking this 2 separate databases : If I'm working in the EQUITY database and click on the Menu Bar location Scrip list (on top centre of the screen), I do not want to see a clutter of CA/PA listing of one scrip with 3 months data. It will be too tedious. Alternatively, when I'm seeing the CA/PA database, I would prefer not to have he Equity database online (which I can pull out, if required)

Now, I want to know if there is any way by which I can POINT to 2 USER SELECTABLE directories - AND SELECT ANY 1 OF THEM AT ANY POINT OF TIME.

Or - can i configure (if YES, how) 2 separate instances of FchartPro on my computer - which will have only one instance working at one time (NOT RUNNING / ACTIVE SIMULTANEOUSLY).

Warm Regards...Rbhapkar

PS : Apologies requested for the CAPITAL letters...but they were used to highlight what i want to say

No. (How to add a new database only.)

You have BSE or similar showing in the top left corner? Click on it and choose 'Add'.

I've been troubleshooting for this program for around 5 years -trust me.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

Further to the same, I have added one database...but am lost as to how do I import data into THAT new database?

Are there any parameters to be specified while importing (destination folder, etc.)?

Please guide.

Hello

You can set FCharts for 2 or more than 1 database
Steps

1. Install FCharts
2. goto FCharts installed folder
3. create file basepath.ini
4. enter path for database for ex. c:\Program Files\FCharts
5. Run FCharts once and exit
6. Copy Complete FCharts Installed directory and paste other location.
7. open basepath.ini and enter new path
8. Run FCharts from new location and exit

Create 2 different ICONS location fcharts.exe for 1st installation and 2nd from copied location.

Thank you

Or you can open a second FCharts folder in another directory or on another HDD and use a common 'Data' folder (or a different data folder for a different bourse/exchange).
