Dear Himadriji,
I have gone through this excellent section of this Forum. I'm using FCharts since last 3 months, but ony for basic purpose. One can write his own formulae & work accordingly, its really a great thing. Your Guidence helps us in everyway. Even I have a formulae which I calculate in excel, but I do not know whether it will work in FChart. If it is possible, please help & guide & please tell stepwise that where to write it. The concept is like this - 20 Day If today's close > previous 20 day's highest high Then 20 day's lowest low ( which will form the blue line ) If today's close < previous 20 day's lowest low Then 20 day's highest high ( which will form the blue line ) 2 Day If today's close > previous 2 day's highest high Then 2 day's lowest low ( which will form the BROWN line ) If today's close < previous 2 day's lowest low Then 2 day's highest high ( which will form the BROWN line ) is this possible to put it in Fchart & overlay on the main price chart ? Please help & guide.. Thanks & Regards Avinash Raste |

Example : for 20 Day First open user defined indicator, write the following formula in any UDI say in UDI8:- If close > previous highest_high[20], lowest_low[20], highest_high[20] In UDI8, Tick mark plot on main chart and force to price scale. Now go to setting and change colour of UDI8 to Blue It will show zig zag line on main chart based on the fact if the above condition is occurred UDI8 will be lowest_low[20] otherwise highest_high[20]. Again if you want a horizontal line based on last days UDI value based on above condition, first un tick plot on main chart and force to price scale from UDI8 and write following formula in UDI9:- UDI8[RECORDCOUNT] Tick mark plot on main chart and force to price scale in UDI9. and change colour setting accordingly. And for condition 2 in 20 days formula for udi will be as follows:- If close < previous lowest_low[20], highest_high[20], lowest_low[20] However if you need any further clarification, please write in details. Cheers Himadri |

Dear Himadriji,
Thank you very much for the reply. I applied your formula & its working very much fine. I have attached the image file of NIFTY. It shows some whipsaws during April & May. Can this whipsaws be eliminated ?? And what I have seen is Only one line instead of UPEER & LOWER Line, which goes UP & DOWN above & below prices. So can we merge both these formulas & make it one ? ( Only one line which goes Up & Down ) One more thing I want to know, how to change the colour of this line ?? Thank you very much once again for your kind reply. Please help & guide. Sir, I am asking this, as it is something related to Fcharts. Will anyone tell me how Fcharts calculate RSI (9 or 14). I used the formula obtained from stockcharts. But the result did not match with that I got from Fcharts. I used the same data in both. Please help me. The data which I used and the result files (.CSV) are at; http://www.geo cities.com/mcid28a/data.txt (remove space) http://www.geo cities.com/mcid28a/rsi14.txt (remove space) Thanks in advance, Peter (mcid28a@ya hoo.com) |

Hi Himadriji
howdy... I was wondering if you could just again quote on your intraday formula that you have previously posted in this forum, specially those working on moving averages (10,50,200). A recapitulation would really benefit us Rgds SNL |

Himadriji,
Your posts in this forum are an inspiration for novices and professionals alike. My question to you concerns the pair of formulae that you provided in March 2008, namely (LOW = LOWEST_LOW[5] AND LOW = LOWEST_LOW[-5] AND LOW * -1) and its opposite (HIGH = HIGHEST_HIGH[5] AND HIGH = HIGHEST_HIGH[-5] AND HIGH * -1) or (low < low[c1] * .98) which includes the stop loss you recommended. My first reaction to these formulae after a bit of experimenting with them was that I had found the Holy Grail. Lately, however, I am having confusing results when I watch the signals evolve on a day to day basis. For example, in the attached chart for AQP, there is a 1 signal on the most recent day, July 18. This would be OK except that my software originally showed a 1 signal on July 10, indicating an entry on July 11. I put the stock on my watchlist, but didn't look at it for a few days, when I discovered that the 1 signal had vanished from July 10 and re-appeared on July 18. The same situation happened for the BHP chart, which is also attached. Given that these formulae are uncannily accurate at finding highs and lows in retrospect, could it be that the formula calculates forward in time as well as backwards? In other words, it finds the lowest low in the last 5 days, and also the lowest low in the next 5 days as well? I would very much appreciate your comments. regards, Andrew |
