Default Question on IPO terminology

Hi -

Can someone answer for me?

I want to know what's the difference between Individuals (Other than RIIs) and Retail Individual Investors (RIIs).

When I bid for IPOs I bid under RII bracket.

Now what's the difference between above two? Can I bid under Non Institutional Investors - Individuals (Other than RIIs) category?

Please explain.

It is the money value of your application. If the value of your application is Rs. 1 lakh or less, you come under the RII category; if higher than that you fall under the 'Individual' category. So you can bid if you invest more than Rs. 1 lakh as an indivdual.

Ok. so basically I can BID under any of those 2 categories.

Do you know where are the chances to get more shares i.e. RII or Individuals (Non FII)?

I can see that RII has more shares reserved than those for Individuals.

Also, regarding you answer, I thought, if you are RII then you cannot bid for more than 1,00,000. As per your comments, RII status is determined based on how much you bid.

In ICICI trading, they have 2 radio buttons to select your status before you bid.
