Tax and Charges calculation

#1
Hi,

I bought 100 shares of CIPLA through India Bulls at 259.75 and the charges alone are 186.9988 rupees.

Could you please let me know the formula how the charges are calculated.

The brokerage charges are 0.5% .

Please let me know how the other charges like Service Tax, Securities Transaction Tax, Stamp Duty, Transaction Tax are calculated.

Please note down the charges given in the contract note.

Share value : 259.75
No. of shares : 100
Brokerage (.5%) : 129.88
Service Tax : 15.9
Securities Transaction Tax : 32.4688
Stamp Duty : 3.42
Transaction Tax : 5.33

Also let me know how to estimate the profit/loss on selling value of the shares.

Thanks in advance.

hello rafi,

First of all a warm welcome to the traders family....

Here are the taxes and charges as applicable in geojit...
Use these figures to work out the charges in your case.....

These charges I am mentioning here are worked out by me based on the contract notes and various other delivery papers from geojit..I am using an excel sheet to compute the effective buying rate and breakeven point for selling....I found they have less than 0.5% error..

*Brokerage: 0.3% for Delivery & 0.03% for Day Trading; Round off to two digits then multiply by no.of shares

*Service Tax: 12.2% of brokerage (minimum of 19 Rs); Rounded off to two digits

*Educational cess: 2% of Service Tax

*STT: 0.1% of Total traded value of the day for Delivery & 0.01% for Intraday

*Ex levy: 0.0035% of Total Traded value of the day

*Stamp Duty: 0.01% of Total traded value of the day for Delivery & 0.002% for Intraday

Hope it is useful...

Chachi

What intrigues me why the STT is in only 4 decimal places .... where does Indiabull draw the line ... why not 6 decimals ??

Dear Folks,
All wrong on taxes.

ST is only 10.3% of brokerage from Mar 09 onwards, before it was 10.36 nw reduced.
STT is 0.125 (DEL) & 0.025 (ID), believe it shud not be charged for Delivery type scripts, but all brokers charge it.
Stamp duty : 0.01 (Del T/Over only) & 0.02% of transaction T/Over (I/day).
T/O tax : 0.00325, some charge 0.0035% of total T/Over.
Brokers to brokers it differs, but no body questions.

SEBI cant be contacted direct i believe.
Alsono where has the Govt notified it or standardised it.
It there is all these taxes in BLACK & WHILTE pls let me know where????
