Default BSE vs NSE : where should one trade?

Hi,

Which one will be better to trade: BSE or NSE?

What conditions one need to consider before deciding on which
exchange to trade?

I've read that the NSE is popular with huge volumes as compared to BSE, as NSE's bid-ask price are excellent compared to BSE. Is this
enough to come to a conclusion that NSE is good?

Please share your opinion.

Thanks,
Praveen.

[I tried to dig into this forum, but couldn't find any useful information on this aspect.]

Liquidity & impact cost are the key criteria to decide on which exchange to trade. If you are looking to buy/ sell, look to see where you get the best offer/ bid, and trade on that exchange. If you are looking at doing big volumes, check to see at what average price your order wil be executed on the resp exchanges. Sometimes, when you are doing big volumes, it may make sense to split your trades between both exchanges.

Hi,

Thanks for your kind reply.

1) Since my trading volumes will be low, I guess it doesn't matter for me, whether its BSE or NSE, right?

2) Usually in which exchange do the retail investors buy the shares?

Thanks once again,
Praveen.

Retail investors buy/ sell shares where their brokers get it for them at a better price... I presume.
