Trader Target

I need some help understanding a concept. I have seen Analysts in TV suggest this type of intraday stock call

Stock Name: XYZ
SELL:252.40
Safe Trader Target: 249
Target 2 : 246
Stop Loss : 254.40

This call is confusing. I assume you have "XYZ" share in position...now you want to SELL ..right ? people SELL when the price is up to get some profit .

In this example , I would love to SELL my shares at 254.40 definitely...because higher value means higher profit . Why they suggest NOT to SELL at 254.40 ? where is the loss ?

Am I missing anything here ?

Hi Megapixel

this is a short selling tips means
1st you sell XYZ stock at 252.40 with a stop loss of 254.4 and if stock price hit lower point of 249 buy it ..
That means you buy at 249 .. sell at 252.4 so total profit of 3.4 Rs per stock ....
And if you want more profit then hold your position and when XYZ hit 246 then buy ...
so your profit would be 6.4 rs per stock ...

this is a intraday call where doesn't matter you buy first or sell first ,, at the end of the day you should liquid all your position ....

Thanks. That was very much helpful.

By the way,

If you buy first then there is an opportunity to convert your position to "Delivery type" and carry forward your positions.

If you sell first then there is no such opportunity ...right ?

Your 1st understanding is correct but 2nd one is depend on your broker ..some broker offer STBT (sell today Buy tomorrow ) facility ..... but it is risky and offer valid on selected stocks only ..... if you want to short go with F&O of that stock ...short future/call or simply buy put
