their Q3 profit is down by 50-60%. and since oil is going up, they will have tough time filling seats.

Hi yezdi,

Jet airways has not been a market outperformer after its listing..

I will higlight a few fundamental points for u to understand the company better...
The quartely results have been dissapointing with
1:PAT declining from 1295 to 610
2:OPM% declining from 29.9 to 16.3

All these negetives are becauz
1:Raising cost of ATF
2:Bottom line also affected by Lease rental cost of the aircrafts
3:Loss of market share to LCC(Lower cost carriers)

Jet airways is trying to beat the competition by going in aquisition of Airsahara...these gives them the advantage of economics of scale..and a dominating 50% market shair...
The aquisition will also assist them in taking more fliers on international routes..and also give more access to the airports infrastructure..

The loophole remains that the Air sahara fleet is again leased and jet airways bottomline will get affected by the cost
Plus jet airways refused to make AS its LCC arm meaning that it still hasnt countered the threat from LCC such as deccan, spicejet etc..

It will take Jet airways sometime before they can start benifiting from this aquisition...
and at cmp of 979 and a p/e of 35 correction is on the cards

On the charts techincally a close below 970 ensures a long downtrend

Bottomline is that if ur a long term player u will find safer bets and if short term..it looks weak..

Cheers
ML
