Indian Explosives India Limited

My father had physical shares of Indian Explosives India Limited and many other such companies which have got closed down. (Sick PSU's)
Are the certificates are of no use now or we can still sell them?

Just chk change in names...Indian Explosives became ICI India.. please recheck, i may hv erred...
Just check the Annual reports and balance sheets you are receiving.. that will tell you the stories that are still alive.
It is also possible that your father recd. the new company SHARES and have sold them.. in max cases one is not required to return the OLD shares.

One can check on bseindia.com about changed names etc. or amalgamations..

Thank you sir.
But my father has not been receiving any updates whatsoever, actually we have changed our address and its not updated at registrar's office.
How can I go about and get address changed and certificates also would require to be changed as name of organization has changed?

Just a letter by your father , giving folio number and other details to the Registrar is enough. In the mean time you may check on BSe and other sites to know the status of the company.

One can claim past how many years dividends? I read somewhere 3 years.. can some one clarify?
Recently received a letter from Siemens related to an unpaid/unclaimed dividend:

Date of payment: 20-May-2005
Last date to claim: 02-Apr-2012

The maths says 7 years after which it would be transferred to the Investor Education & Protection Fund (IEPF).
