Ask/Bid price

Hi everyone.

I am new around here. Just wanted to ask few questions.

1) Can one buy an equity at 55 if it is trading at 52 ? Similarly can one sell it at 50 ?

2) Is it possible to know what kind of buy and sell orders are in queue to get executed?

Thanks.

Why not... If you paying more than market price then why can't you buy ? They will love to sell you...same in sell order..
You can see 5 best bids... this will give you a fair idea on at what price people want to buy and @ what sellers want to seller .

Dear Friend,

always a buy order or sell order executes at the best available price.

Let me show you four diffrent situations, this will give you more clarity.

1. You want to buy at 50, but market price is at 52, then order will be pending order and if price will come down to 50, then only your order will execute.
2. you want to buy at 50, but market price is 48, then your order will execute at 48.
3. you want to sell at 50, but market price is at 52, then your order will excute at 52.
4. you want to sell at 50, but market price is at 48, then order will be pending order and if price will go up to 50, then only your order will execute.

Got it?

Happy trading.

The reason i posted my question is because I saw some wild fluctuation which i couldn't understand. I follow intraday candle charts at google finance(2 min interval). Let me make myself more clear by an example.

BPCL closed at 587.00( 2 min bar ending at 3:28 pm) and then opened at 598 ( 2min bar ending at 3:30 pm.

So I just want to understand what kind of trades may create such bars ?

The Last Candle on a 2 minute time frame opened at 586.10, Check the yellow line on the chart ..., the difference between close of previous candle(586.30) and open of the current candle is -00.20 .( Price share available at that moment i.e 586.10...,)

What you have mentioned looks like Probably some data related issue..., You can check on some other site..

Appreciate your effort to explain, but I should have mentioned the date before to make clearer. Anyways I was talking about Feb 4 not today. I am posting a pic to make it more clearer.

Sorry My friend..., I do not have a backfil intraday data of 4th Feb ..., But from what you say it looks like there was a gap on the upside on the last candle. Which could be the reason...,
