enquiry about transfer of physical shares

I have a demat account but my father doesn't have one.So he wants to transfer share certificates in my account .I know the procedure but is PAN card mandatory for my father for transfering it.I have a PAN card though

i think the shares are in physical format in your father's name. if so, first of all, u have to open a demat account in your father's name and transfer all the shares to the demat account. for opening a demat account, PAN car is a must.
