Which broker has the maximum hold time for margin trading?

#1
Hi.

I'm currently using ICICIDirect. However, their MarginPlus product allows one to hold a stock only till the end of the day and the Margin product also makes you square off before delivery (T+2). :(

I'd like to be able to trade on margin, but hold onto a stock for longer than 1-2 days (swing trading). I've heard that Sharekhan offers a holding time of 5 days? Is this accurate and are there any brokers that offer margin trading with a hold time which is similar or longer?

Is it possible to negotiate with a bank to provide the margin trading facility if no broker is offering something like this for swing trading?

Thanks in advance!:D

Yes, Sharekhan allows nearly 5 days. They do not have any auto square off system.
If u buy on margin and do not square off within Intraday, then u have to clear the funds within T+4 days or u have to sell the shares within this period.

Indiabulls gives margin till 6th working day when the intimation is given. On the 7th day the position will be squared. Margin trading is a standardised featuire offered by brokers but the plan is decided by the RM.

Hi,
When you say margin trading I understand you get to leverage also...So both Indiabulls and sharekhan gives leveraged open position on stocks for 5-7 days? If yes, then How many times?

As far as I am aware leveraged open position:
Indiabulls at 3 times leverage
Sharekhan at 2 times
Sharekhan gives 4 times leverage. I think all brokers give atleast 4 times for trading in large/mid cap companies.
R u sure Indiabulls give 3 times only ?

I guess this depends on broker. Evry scrip has its own margin values.. some goes for 25% even . which means u get a leverage of 5 times.. check this at below :

https://newtrade.sharekhan.com/rmmweb/rcs.sk?execute=customerdetail&scrip=XXXXXX&exchange=NSE

replace XXXXXX with the code for the scrip . for example :

https://newtrade.sharekhan.com/rmmweb/rcs.sk?execute=customerdetail&scrip=RELCAP&exchange=NSE

this will give u all details about RELiance CAPital and their margin value
