can a NRI use his india trading account to trade

#1
I have a account with ICICIdirect since 2000.
I left india in 2006 for US and work on a h1b visa .

My Question is .

Is it right by law that i can continue to use my ICICIdirect account to buy stocks \IPO's in the indian market ?

If the answer is no , what should i do to buy stocks\IPO's in the indian market ?

a) If Your Trading Account Is NRI Account Status, Then You Can Buy Shares & Apply For IPOs In The Indian Market

b) As A NRI Status You Can't Trade Intraday In Equity
c) NRIs Are Not Permitted To Trade In Derivatives.

Everything has a workaround and Indians specialize in finding one or inventing one if there were none. This is what most of them do, get a local account under the name of your family member who is a Residential Indian and then trade online.

Beware.. although majority of broking house does not block access on the basis of your IP Address's country location but still you might want to be cautious and use some IP tunneling to mask your IP address and make it appear an Indian one by using any IP tunneling proxy server based in India.

Disclaimer: Your questions have already been answered about legality by SG and I would echo that. It is an individual's decision to go this route.
