In current month to say Jan 09 end, I would be investing for short tem in following stocks..
1.Unitech
2.Suzlon
3.ICICI

From Feb 09 , I would be investing for long term for around 1 to 1.5 years in following stocks:

Alok
goderage
hindustan construction
Areva T&D

My aim is to have 50 % returns in short term and around 400% returns in long term.....now question is, taking into consideration above stuffs, is it possible to achieve my aims......

Would appreciate to have suggestions from you guys in order to achieve my short term and long term goals....

Dear WOD,

Your long term period of 1 to 1.5 years is too short. Also the expectation of 400% in 1.5 years is not a legible one. It may happen but not so often. You should even be happy even of you get a 100% or double your money with in 1.5 years.

Also the 50% return may be possible provided I don't know what time period you are giving to short term.

Also, I like to ask you why you have selected these stocks.

Hari.

Hari,

I suppose your asking me about my longeterm calls...here is my answer:

Alok:
Company has great potential with equally good fundamentals; when markets will recover this script is gonna show a lot of upward momentum. I am very bullish on this and expect atleast 8 folds returns from its current price.

Goderage:
FMCG...they are gonna lead the rally next time. Goderage with good fundamentals is expected to lead the rally.

Areva and HCC:
If things dont go as expected in case of above scripts then these two would be my coverings.
I am very sure that I will not be loosing money on these and I am expecting atleast twice fold return on to these two in 2 years of term...

Columbs,

In general terms, I could understand what you mean by saying that my longterm is too short.

But honestly, taking look at todays scenario, I could predict that markets will be bouncing back in 1.5 years and that I would be able to make good profits in 1.5 years.

Let me know your thoughts....

Fundamental analysis is for fund managers and TV anchors, and to be taught in university courses.
This is what I have learned from my experience. When markets are good, just every active stock performs good, and vice versa.
And this bear cycle could turn into severe depression. So, let the markets get stable first. If you want to earn 400% in 1.5 years. Then strategy would be not to invest but to trade positional.
Stocks must be chosen with high volatility. I would bet on IBREALEST, ICICIBANK, BHEL, PUNJLLOYD etc in your case.

Pokrate,

Sure, your advice is useful enough and correct to some extent to be followed.

But the fact is, I dont have exprience trading in so much volatile market; but can do so if I could be sure about stocks like bhel, punjloyed, ICICI giving me return around 400%.

Just one question for you...DO you have any solid reasons for suggesting bhel, punjloyed and ICICI ?
