Default Long Term Stocks

Hi Friends,
I am not very experienced to stocks. I am basically looking for some long term stocks and need your guidance in this respect. I am finding Tata Tele, SAIL and HLL to be good for long term investing. I want group's view on this. Also if you have any other stocks which you think can be good in long term please suggest me some.

How long is the question? if you have 2-3 years in mind, then go for these stocks like HLL, Tata steel. But not SAIL as IMHO it will take more than two years to give substantial returns on its current value.

ONGC is always the good option for long term stocks , which offers good dividend also.
Other good stocks is BHEL as Maharashtra gov. is planning to approch Enron again for its electricity needs. So BHEL will play a major role in supplying accessories like turbine, generators etc.
