Having lost Karnataka election to BJP, Congress led govt. is finding it hard to hike petrol/diesel price; taking view of forthcoming election in MP,CG and Rajasthan followed by general election, next year.
September and onwards it shall be too difficult for OMC's to further import crude. These co's dont want oil bonds(that too shall be fetched after monsoon session of the parliament) but cash to maintain their working capital. By reducing prices by meagre 2/3 rs ,is now passe.  Today avg. price of petrol(all over india) is around 50-52, actual price is 22 with 28 rs. of taxes(excise,sales etc). What govt need to do is hike petro prices and simultaneously reduce tax duties.
