Angry Beware:Expensive bug in ICICIDirect

Folks,

I was victim of a weird bug in ICICIDirect. If you succumb to that, you might end up SELLING rather than BUYING. So be watchful. Following is the sequence of events:

In the BUY page, you enter details and click done. When u expect the "Verify order page", you will get error: "Please go back to previous screen and wait till the page downloads completely" with a back button. u click the back button. Note that this time it goes to SELL page with previous values retained!!! Very hard to notice this is sell page!!! i ended up selling instead of buying

Hope this saves.

Rgds,
Rajiv

incidentally I had the exact # of shares I was buying and i was placing a market order, so all the mess. If I didnt have it, it wouldn't hv allowed me sell.

i dont do short sell but I guess I will have select Margin from another dropdown.

Boss, the same problem I had encountered in ICICIdirect.com on last 22nd January - and - instead of buying I ended up in selling my stocks. I was planning to average my portfolio - but, I could not. This is really pathetic and I am now seriously thinking of registering some other websites for stock trading purpose.

Thumbs up Re: Beware:Expensive bug in ICICIDirect

QFT.

But I was little bit lucky as I had not purchased those shares earlier and also I noticed it's displaying "sell" and not buy.
Anyway, this is bad on icici part as one can make a mistake in a frenzy.

Thanks for making us people aware about it and sorry about your loss.
