When u r in a trade,u can place an order of limit sell wid trigger price.Like u entered long in SBI at 2300....ur initial stoploss is say 2275. Now as time goes and SBI continued to move up,say at 2330,u can now change ur previous limit sell order of 2275 to 2310 or what ever price. For dat go to 'modify' tab of speedtrade, and place ur new limit sell order wid stoploss trigger price. In dis case 2310 will b ur new trailing stop.

what will happen to the stoploss which was placed earlier ....is it going to cancel automatically or should we manually cancel it

U don't have to cancel d stoploss order which was placed earlier, but u have to modify it(by pressing d 'modify' tab in speedtrade) to a new stoploss order, which can b termed as trailing stoploss. In dis way d earlier stoploss order will not remain active ne more.Only d new modified stoploss order is now recognised by d system.

Trailing stops in intra day? Wow ...Considering the volatility nowadays, this must be a real back (brain) breaking job! Anyway, trend is your friend, untill it bends! whatever.

We should try to avoid trailing stop in a volatile market

Then its better not to trade.. If you dont trail your stops then u will see losses at the end of day.. In a Intraday chart there is lot of trend formations, reversals and if u dont lock your profits. its all over.

And the answer is there is nothing like trailing stoploss in reality! We have only one stoploss in place at one time.If this is placed at the time just after entering a trade, then it is named 'Iniial Stoploss' ; when this stoploss is 'modified' to another stoploss, after sometime of placing the initial stoploss, for any reason,be it the trade moving in the right direction, time elapsing based reasoning, changing buy-sell pressure, whatever cause it might be,then it is called 'Trailing Stoploss'.

Do any brokerages allow Trailing SL to be set in form of some percentage. So that we don't have to modify it all the time... that would be easier with a big portfolio...
