Once upon a time in a village, an intermediary1 appeared and after contacting the Gram Panchaayat and taking permission from the Sarpanch announced to the villagers that his boss required some monkeys (bandariyaa) and that he would buy them for Rs 100 on his behalf. The Sarpanch was also worried as to why would a good looking intermediary1 require bandariyaa !!!!!!!
The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The intermediary1 bought thousands at Rs100 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs 200. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs 225 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! But stil they managed to get some. After some days, the offer rate went to 300 but now there were no monkeys in sight.
The intermediary1 now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs 600! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his intermediary2 would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of his boss, the intermediary2 told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the intermediary1 has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs 500 and when he returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs 600."
The villagers were mad with joy and started dancing and squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Days passed, months elapsed but no sign of either the man, intermediary 1 or 2.
