GMR Infra is likely to bag the airport project in Eastern Europe very soon and this could take the share price to new highs.

Reliance Industries is likely to hive off its exploration and production division into a separate company, which may unlock value. ?????

Mittal richest Indian, Mukesh 2nd: .........

Lakshmi N Mittal reigns as the richest Indian for the fourth year in a row with a wealth of $51 billion although his crown is under threat from Mukesh Ambani whose net worth soared to $49 billion, according to Forbes' India's 40 Richest list for 2007.

Mukesh's position, too, is under threat from his younger brother Anil who is closing on his heels with a wealth of $45 billion at the third spot, US-based Forbes magazine said.

Kushal Pal Singh of DLF has replaced Wipro's Azim Premji from the fourth spot in the list.

The four richest Indians are worth an astonishing $180 billion .attributing the surge in wealth to the booming stock market

Barclays to Write Down $2.7 Billion on U.S. Subprime

By Ben Livesey and Jon Menon

Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Plc, the U.K.'s third- biggest bank, posted writedowns of about 1.3 billion pounds ($2.7 billion) on credit-related securities tied to the U.S. subprime-mortgage market collapse.

The company will write down and take net charges of 500 million pounds for the third quarter and 800 million pounds for October, the London-based bank said in a statement today. Barclays gained as much as 6.9 percent in London trading after the bank said both it and the securities unit posted an increase in net income and pretax profit for the year through October.

Barclays shares had fallen 12 percent this month as investors criticized it for not disclosing the extent of losses following the five-month rout in the $6 trillion market for U.S. home-loan bonds. Chief Executive Officer John Varley said last week the bank's ``silence'' indicated that market speculation was unjustified. The company said it would not update shareholders until Nov. 27.
