3. Some people have talked that they or their brother etc lost lakhs, so why is 6500/- M to M scaring you??

4. 6500/- is M to M and is NOT A BOOKED LOSS. Problems are booked Loss, not M to M.

6. This is not a competition to show who is good or who knows more. I have nothing to prove to anybody. If you are interested in my stategies, do read. Ask as many questions as possible, i will answer them to the extent i know.

7. As i said do paper trades till you understand my methods.

With best wishes.

We the "stop loss worshippers" as you would like to term us, have already booked our losses in Nifty long at opening of the Market on Friday and many even went short and might have exited at some profit in the Short side to off set the loss in LONG POSITIONS THAT HIT SL.

About your comment that what is 6500 compared to lakhs that people have lost Gaurav, this 6500 is LOSS PER LOT OF NIFTY. I am paper trading 30 lots, so my MTM stands at 8000X30=240000. (I went long at 4560)
What is the difference between booked loss and MtoM if your position continues to give you MtoM losses EOD??
I pray that you exit this position in manageable LOSS so that you understand the value of STOP LOSS. In case you make a profit in this call or exit at par your confidence shall be sky high and it will be difficult to survive when you fall from that height.
Any way thanks for your detailed reply with what you have in mind.
Regards.

Dear RKKarnani,

The M to M of 6500/- is indeed per lot. As i have said earlier that one should have back up funds, so if you are long on nifty with 30 lots you should have back up funds. If you take positions without back up funds, you are making a mistake.

Let me give you an anology. In a war, if a general decided to concentrate all his forces in some area wanting to make a deep thrust into enemy area, the enemy could always outflank him where his forces are weak. Same is true for a game of chess.

So if you concentrated all your money into positions, there is no way you can take protective action. If you decide on such a strategy, it is your problem.

with best wishes,

Gaurav Kumar

Default Trading Nifty on 30th July

Dear Friends,

Today is a day that will test nerves. Expect the market to open weak on global cues. The one who can hold on may see nifty rise and we should get to 4550 levels in a day or two.

I will hedge only if nifty falls below 4350 , ie 180 points below my buy price or 9000/- M to M (per lot).

In case nifty rises and crosses Friday's close, i shall buy one more and sell that at 4500 levels to reduce the cost of my original purchase of nifty at 4530.

with best wishes.

Gaurav Kumar

I have back up fund in my paper trading for 100 lots so I have exposed my self to 30 lots. Have bought 15 lots again at 4395.10 as it crossed previous close. Have given an offer to sell at 4500. Maybe add 15 more on decline to 4350.
Ofcourse there is no Stop Loss applied. Please wish me profit.

Ofcourse my nerves are a wreck and about to collapse, i cannot withstand the tension generated.
Though I have back up funds but that is my capital and not my accumulated profits. Sorry I cannot take it any more, I have exited 15 lots at 4419.90. Ratanji is correct I should not add to my loosers.
I am holding to my original longs of 30 lots.

Dear RKKarnani,

Ok so you purchased 15 lots at 4395 and exited at 4419. so you did make a profit of 20 points on that and therefore reduced the cost of your holdings.

Market players would definitely want that the nerves of traders remain a wreck.. so if your nerves are wreck, it indicates that they are successful.

To be honest my nerves are not at all wreck. I am cool, i understand what is happening. I too took nifty at 4395 and am holding it for the time being. it was trading at 4430 a few minutes back. I shall hedge only if nifty breaks 4350.

With best wishes.

Sir Gaurav ji, But this reduction shall not be to your account in my paper trade. If Nifty trades above 4500, I'll reduce the cost of my holding by 50(half of 100 as 50% quantity was added). I'll add 50% more at 4350. Should I ???
