Default Tech Mahindra set to bag $400-m deal

TECH Mahindra, which made headlines with its $1-billion British Telecom (BT) deal, is close to bagging another mega contract. Although smaller than the BT deal, the size of the contract is estimated to be fairly large - in the region of $ 400 million. To put it in perspective, the contract is still larger than the company’s fiscal 2006 revenues of $ 280 million. It is also the third largest to come to any Indian company - the first being the BT deal and the second, the $850-million TCS-Pearl deal.

The contract is learnt to be from global telecom major AT&T. “Tech Mahindra has already got part of the work for $ 60 million a few months back. It is now likely to bag another $ 350 million,” a source said. The deal is also significant because unlike BT, AT&T has no equity interest in Tech Mahindra.
