Question Margin Money?

what is margin money? how is it calculated? what is its purpose? how is it used? i read in a thread that some broker sold some shares of a client without informing since margin money was low, what does that mean?
pls clarify

margin money is a minimum amount in your bank/brokers account for trading stocks. itis fixed by brokers. if your account digits are not suffecient for trading, the brokers sold your holding and maintain the amount. because they show all the clients accounts are clean chit the pariticular day.
