Tried many softwares, free sites, but hicups never ended.

I have found a way out to self dependent for EOD Data.

The following steps are involved.

1. Download Bhavcopy from NSE site.
2. Unzip, you get data in EXCEL.
3. Goto Data>Filter>AutoFilter
4. Click the drop down box on "Series". Choose "Custom"
5. Give criteria "EQ" or "BE". Click OK.
6. Now, select entire data copy and paste into another Worksheet and save.
7. Save the new file as CSV delimited.

Now, the data is ready to append using File>Import Wizard
Choose the columns as required and append.

Enjoy! Free EOD.

I welcome suggestions to shorten the procedure to save time and effort.

Thanks, veluri, you spoke my mind.

The following steps are involved.

1. Download Bhavcopy from NSE site.
2. Unzip, you get data in EXCEL.
Another alternative is to download PR.ZIP and use the PDddmmyy.csv file within it.
Pros: This file contains index data also.
Cons: PR.ZIP is not archieved. One can get current day's data only.

Whether we can use the template feature (.XLT) of EXCEL to automate the operation is to be looked into.

Now, the data is ready to append using File>Import Wizard
Choose the columns as required and append.

Enjoy! Free EOD.

I welcome suggestions to shorten the procedure to save time and effort.
We may use a dedicated Amibroker format file to import so that column filtering can be avoided OR have the data in standard OHLCV format so as to be useful for other TA software also.

If we are using PR.ZIP file a suitable procedure may be adopted for futures and options also.

Request more thoughts into this project from experts of Excel.

Thanks.

Hi..Murthygaru,

I use my small brains (sometimes in works:D) to make a Macro to do excel formatting.

Macro does rearranging columns, autofilter etc.

PR.zip concept goes above my mind. If you can, please make things easier for brains like mine.:D

Thank you.

Dear veluri,

Thanks for your response.

PR.ZIP file is available at nseindia > Equity > Markets Today > Bhav Copy > PR.ZIP | Archives >>> New page Archives opens.

On this page > EQUITIES > Bhav Copy (PR.ZIP = Last row, not the first).

Select the date and download ( My statement that PR.ZIP is not archived in my earlier post is no longer correct, I stand corrected.)

PR.ZIP file contains:

PDddmmyy.csv file which contains the bhav copy for stocks and INDICES +
FOddmmyy.csv file which contains bhav copy for futures +
OPddmmyy.csv file which contains bhav copy for options +
many more files.

From out of these, we may work on stock+indices bhav copy now, with possibility for future extension to others later.

Thanks & Regards.
