s&p cnx nifty- index volume

hello all,
I would like to know how to get s&p cnx nifty index day's volume in Nseindia site. I request anyone to give a sujjession in this regard.

Index will not have a volume. Contracts based on the index are traded, and will have volume. If that is what you meant, then look at the data for Nifty futures and Mininifty futures.

My data provider is giving volume for S&P CNX NIFTY ON 5TH JUNE 09 is 162,31,26,144. I can't understand where they getting this figure. But S&P CNX NIFTY futures volume is given different.

Seems this is not the Index traded volume but complete traded volume of the market.
ie.. Traded volum of all stocks in the mkt..

chk out if this number is 370092839 for 8-Jun which is the number of shares traded in market (from NSE site.).

Volume in S&p Cnx nifty chart is 130,94,15,808 on 08th jun 2009.

This volume is total traded (Equities + Warrants + Bonds). You can see the pd<ddmmyyyy>.csv file available in PR.zip. It contains the same volume.

Why not use the data(OHLC and Volume) that NSE uses to construct its own Nifty chart?

Just enter the dates and press the button..and the page that opens contains the volume under the heading called "Shares Traded"..

You can also download it in .csv format..see link at the bottom of the page..after which u can upload that in metastock too...cheers!

can anybody pls tell me where do we get the S&P CNX Nifty volume data? why does software show 535000000 volume and nseindia site shows 95878889?
