Although there are many softwares out there to download daily bhavcopies, none of them support the downloading of daily bhavcopies in "DBF" format.

Let me present "DBF Retriever" which can download the daily bhavcopies from NSE Server in either or both the formats ie, DBF as well as CSV.

Output file is same as the zipped file that can be obtained manually from NSE website. It will not output any Ascii file!

Presently, it can only download BhavCopies from CM segment inclusive of special trading sessions like Muhurat Trading and any other occasional sessions held on any day of the week.

You will need Microsoft .NET Framework 4 to begin with.

Instructions are simple, just follow the text on the tabs.

Let me know how you like the speed.

**Approx 40 minutes to get all the CM BhavCopies (zipped) since inception.

Hi TP,

Sudris posted it because of my predicament of having to update from 18/11/2006 on the new computer.... for the homegrown software which is based on VSF
Below is the link for RELIANCE when updated

Reliance

Anyways...have managed to update till 03/04/2012 with a gap in between where August 2010 to December 2010 is pending and should be completed today sometime....!!!

Let me also take this opportunity to Thank Sudris.....for this utility...!!!

SG

Why would you download it in .dbf format ?? Who is using dBase/ Foxpro /Clipper these days ?

In addition to what SG wrote above, you might want to know the hits NSE gets for the DBF versions ;)
Yeah, I can imagine a lot of Clipper based softwares and maybe some using Visual FoxPro.

PS : What is VSF ?? visual foxpro?

Hi Sudris,

I downloaded the utility and it works fine with the bhavcopy download. I am facing problem getting the bhavcopy converted to either metastock or amibroker compatable data. If it is not too much could you pl help with the same.
Thanks and regards

Hi undefined,

For importing in Amibroker or Metastock you will have to
  1. Download the bhavcopies in CSV format.
  2. Extract all of them in a single go using winrar software. it has the option to dump all the files in one single directory.
  3. For Amibroker : Use the Import Wizard in Amibroker
  4. For Metastock : Use The Downloader/Converter available within Metastock

Did try that before but somehow it does not work. Tried some stunts that I could think up. But amibroker returns a error and no charts could be viewed. Just for your viewing am attaching the error log file. The log file was created for 1 days bhavcopy import just to keep the filesize short. Could you suggest something. I am using amibroker 5.2. I think I might have to manually change certain things in each of the bhavcopies. I also checked out the wizard link that you provided. Afraid was not enough to resolve my issue. Sorry for the trouble.

Try to import 3 or more days bhavcopy as Amirbroker needs atleast 3 bars data to show the graph.

I can't see any log file attached.

Did try for all the csv since I knew more than 3 days records are required. Am not able to attach the log file. So pasting partial contents of the same. I think Amibroker is not taking the date format. Mostly I could be making a mistake on the column selection in the import wizard. cOULD YOU post the image of the desired column selection in the import wizard for this bavcopy. That should resolve my issue. Thanks again
