***** Backfill Downloader

hi folks,
Yah00 is planning to provide data at rock bottom price. but the data quality has always been a point of discussion. in order fellow members could feel the quality of the same i made a small application which downloads backfill data from Yah00. feedback for the same can help one and all.

this is perhaps the first application which captures backfill data from Yah00. the application is very simple and is self explanatory in nature.

the data comes in two formats. one min data, having backfill for the day only and five minute data, having backfill for the last five days. the data comes in ASCII format which can be read by MetaStock Amibroker, FCharts and other popular charting softwares.

this project is a part of a larger project (for an RT application) and any feedback will be very useful. i hope fellow members will find the application useful.

hi folks,
i have completely revamped the application. now in addition to Yah00 data, one can download nse bhavcopy and can also convert pib data. the new version is built on .net framework and the problem of missing dlls will no longer bother one. of-course one needs .net framework 2 to be installed in his/her computer.

the app is very simple and self explanatory in nature.

Yah00 one/five minute
the default setting is meant for metastock. just put the downloader to good use the data will be converted. you can check/uncheck the appropriate settings to customize according to your needs.

to add or remove scripts edit the "Yah00 one minute.txt" or "Yah00 five minute.txt" text files.

nse bhavcopy downloader
downloads nse bhavcopy. only the EQ and BE series is downloaded. if both EQ and BE series are present then only the EQ series is appended (this is true for data prior to introduction of rolling settlement).

in addition a market breath report is also appended which might come in handy to many.

pib converter
well, it converts pib data to ascii files, so that the downloader can read the same. data downloader appends only the near month future (data symbol is appended as "NIFTY-1 and so on) and cash data.

just take care to write the settlement date in ddMMMyyyy format only in the "Settlement Date" text box. otherwise futures data wont be appended. for example write 25DEC2007 (uppercase only) to append data for december futures. you need to change the settlement date after expiry at the end of every settlement.

Thanks 'jdm' for this small but very useful utility. Thanks a lot. When I saw this I had doubts if this will work on my machine or not but it worked right through.

I saved the files and tried to load the data in NEUROSHELL TRADER. But it did not. Then I removed the angled brackets <> from the lebels and saved. This time it worked.

Is there any way to remove those angled brackets when downloading the data.

How to use this data as realtime in my NEUROSHELL TRADER?

well, i haven't tried nuroshell, but few fix here and there should do the trick. just give me a sample data and i will try to customize.
