With refrence to your 1st query, presumably you are long in future position, writing call option requires approximately half of the margin for a future position required for writing call optoin.

2. With stocks of the permitted lot size in position:- You need not require any margin for writing call against the said number of shares but you have to pledge//lodge shares with broker.

3.Regarding query No.3 margin requirements are payable acccording to NSE SPAN Margin file which released every day, detailed information can be accessed from your broker.

Thanks Sankoorikal,

Your reply cleared all my doubts. I have one more query regarding options. At present the nifty nov series is quoting at

3550CE@ 180.
3700CE@ 86.

Now, if i buy a call at 3550, Can i write a 3700 call without providing additional margin. Will my total outflow be (180 - 86) = 94. i;e can i opt this strategy by paying only 94.

Thanx again.

dear if you hold future of that call you are going to sell you can sell call at zero margin because it is hedging & you can do it.
