If I go long in nifty futures at 3000 1 lot and the margin is 15% so I need to maintain 45k as margin.
Next day if nifty future falls by 50 points then do I have to maintain any additional margin? other than that initial margin of 45k? Whats this mark to market margin pls tell. Pls tell in detail abt margin calculation. |

If you are long 1 lot and the market falls by 50 points you will have to deposit Rs. 5000 with your broker, who in turn will pass it on to NSCCL. This is the mark to market margin.
The 45k is the initial margin to take care of any adverse market movements. For more about margin, go to http://nseindia.com/content/nsccl/nsccl_fomargins.htm |

In icicidirect.com they take 12% in intial margin and not 15% and yes u r right if you dont have enough money in you account then they wouldnt have any option but to adjust in initial deposit for which they could even automatically squareoff ur position. |
