relations between volume and open interest?

anyone prefer to trade the stock index futures.

i want to know the relations between volume and open interest?

i mean the amount of the open intrest . and turn over of trading a specific

contract.

for example: intraday trading:


if the open interest is more than the volume

or the open interest is more than volume.


or just same?
