How much money is needed to sell a Nify option / Stock Option

Can any one let me know How much money is needed to sell a Nify option / Stock Option?. say for example if i want to sell a Nifty Call Option 4500 one lot (50) which is trading with a premium 26, how much i need to maintain the margin? pls let me know.

for shorting nifty option, you require the same margin as you would require to short nifty. The same applies to stocks too. There will be little variation in the margin amount depending on the ITM, OTM, etc. Broker's site usually will have a margin calc.

Can somebody tell how the Mark to Market is calculated for selling an option.
It will be very helpful if it is explained with an example

Place a order to sell the option at price which is above ltp then the message window will show how much your balance is short to sell this option. Add that amount to your current buying power = intial margin required. simple....
