Doubt about trading in nifty futures?

#1
HAI GUYS,

Iam Hari.. Iam new to this forum. Iam new to investing in stock market also.I have doubts regarding investments in NIFTY FUTURES..

I will be more thankful if you post the answers to my questions as early as possible...

QUESTIONS:

1. What is the Lot Size of NIFTY FUTURES?

2. Whats the initial investment required for trading in NIFTY Futures?

3. Can I believe the websites like SNPNIFTY.COM , DOCTORNIFTY.COM, CALLOPTIONPUTOPTION.COM etc, which offer services (trading tips for investing in NIFTY FUTURES) for a particular fee.

Is it good to believe them for investing in futures?
Iam carried away by their websites...

Please guide me in futures trading....

Thankyou for your interest...:):):).

1. What is the Lot Size of NIFTY FUTURES?
50 [fifty] is the lot size of nifty futures.

2. Whats the initial investment required for trading in NIFTY Futures?
Rs. 17,800 for nifty lot on 28feb2009. for daily margin requirement see http://sharekhan.com/SSKICMT/Upload/Drv_Upload/Derivativekit.xls this file is updated daily, so you can see the "margin" tab for the requied margin.

3. Can I believe the websites like SNPNIFTY.COM , DOCTORNIFTY.COM, CALLOPTIONPUTOPTION.COM etc, which offer services (trading tips for investing in NIFTY FUTURES) for a particular fee.
I don 't know regarding their view, but trading futures is the most riskiest trade. instead of futures, trade in options, so that your losses are limited, overnight losses especially.

Wow we have a case study in our hand,

Hariram I hope you will take this sportingly,

If you are really genuine in your question, I guess then you have a solution over here at this forum itself.

Question 1 and 2 seems to be ok as every novice will have this kind of question either to their broker or to some forums,
But Question 3 seems to be interesting because a Management student will look at this question in some other way and we call this as Marketing strategy - What happens in this is as we look at the question no 3, what we do is we start looking at their websites, and looking at all those, some newcomers to this trading field will fall for this.

Anyway Hariram, I hope you dont get upset with me, I just pointed because I had a project in Marketing in my college time and I had come with similiar kind of strategy.

Well I surely hope this was not your intention, but I was not able to resist myself from posting this.

Welcome to Traderji, I hope you have a great learning experience and god bless you.

Thanks and regards,

Hariram,
You already got reply for Qu 1 and 2.
My view regarding qu 3 is, If trading on tips is the way to make money in the market then we won't hear so many stories where people lost money following some guru's tips, cnbc tips, etc.
Trading in Futures is riskier then trading in stocks due to the leverage involved. So, better to learn the basics of trading, risk management and trading discipline before risking your money.
Otherwise, you will loose your capital to the other successful traders in the market, to brokerage house or to some tip provider.

Happy Trading.
