what does it mean?can anyone explain this to me in simple and plain english.

A derivative is a financial instrument that derives its value from the value of an underlying asset. The underlying asset can be equity, commodities or any other asset. For the purpose of this chapter, we would restrict the scope to Equity derivatives only. Derivatives were introduced in the Indian stock market to enable investors to hedge their investments against adverse volatile price movements. However they are now commonly being used for taking speculative positions.

Broadly, Futures and Options are the derivative instruments that are traded on the two main exchanges, BSE and the NSE.

Lagta hai mera bhai aa gaya. 007 -007 bhai bhai. :D Just kidding ,

Browse through this DERIVATIVES SECTION of traderji. There are numerous pages here. If you still dont find any relevant thread then i will give it to you by links:) Do some hardwork , there are gems here on traderji who have left their expertise all over traderji in form of threads and posts:)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Main kunbh ke mele attend nahi karta:D
Trading toh mat pucho , lost hell lot of money this month in my PE. Ab toh mujhpar se mera vishwas uth gaya. Recent trade of mine is --
ICICI400PEJAN@24. Its uptrendline broke and stochs gave sell signal. first time i took position on my reading of charts. If i go wrong this time , you wont see coolboy in mkts and traderji for quite sometime.:(

Aise mat kaho cool man nahin to mera Heart Czar czar karke ro padega:)
leave this tukka trading n do paper trade for next three mnth and u will see new born profit baby in u
never enter in real trade till u hav consequtive two mnths of profit
u r so small man hav good remarkable life with wife:D
dont waste money n energy w/o full experience
salaah hamaari marji tumhaari maano to theek na maano to mere kaun se paise lage hain:) god bless u

Will wait till Jan end. I did paper trades on ma chartical analysis for last montha nd poured into profits. Hope i will again. Aapki salah toh main pehle hi maan chuka hoon:D

For a trader, an option or a future is as a trouser with only one leg : it's only for trading not to use.But for a professional, for example cacao or orange producer or a financial with a portfolio, it's an insurance.:)
