I hope they charge brokerage on one leg only.

rs. 30.35 brokerage comes out to be 5 paise(.05%) brokerage which is quite reasonable.

There are brokers who charge 2.5% brokerage.

STT& service tax are charged same by every broker(unless the broker is unscrupulous and charges more and keep the access in his pocket).:D

Hi,
I have a membership account of 2 brokerage firms. I have a query regarding STOPLOSS.
I wanted to know whether i can modify my Stoploss for any particular scrip.
For example:- If i buy a share at Rs. 60 and put my Stoploss at Rs. 55. Now when the
share price goes up to suppose Rs. 70 and i don't want to sell that scrip but continue holding that
can i increase my Stoploss to Rs. 65 so that it will be my profit Stoploss. Even if that share price starts falling
from Rs. 70 i can atleast book a profit of Rs. 5.

I asked this question to both the brokerage's concerner persons and they replied that i won't be able to modify my Stoploss after a
particular transaction is fully executed. I even went to my branch office and got the same reply.

If this is the case then what is Trailing Stoploss. I don't know if this is a rule that is not accepted by BSE or NSE or this is something that the
Brokerage firms should provide as a service.

Plz reply.

Thanx,
Nitin Kumar

What u are going above is trailing stop loss.

U can always do that.

U can always modify unexecuted order whether stop loss order or limit order.

I dont know which platform u use but in Asiancerc's platforms right click on intraday net position and choose modify order option.

You should be able to modify your non executed order. There should be option to view
pending orders on your platform.. and that page should give you choice to modifty pending orders. If your broker doesn't have this facility then probably it is the limitation of their system.
ICICIDirect / Sharekhan / Indiabulls/ HDFCSec - all have this option.

Only issue, is this stoploss order is valid for only one day. So if your SL of 65 is not hit today then you will have to reenter it tomorrow. Thats limitation from NSE because they don't support "Good Till Cancel" order.

Happy Trading.

Re: Help me regarding Stoploss

Thanks for the reply but if my order is not executed then i haven't bought the scrip. So what is the use of modifying Stop-loss before buying any scrip. I should be able to increse my Stop-loss after i have bought the scrip and so that if the scrip price is rising i will raise my stoploss too and when the scrip falls i will be able to atleast book some profit. Plz share your thoughts on this. I'm totally confused and i think i'm missing something here.
Thanks Nitin

I think people are having difficulty helping you because of confusion...

The advice has been dealing with "trailing stop-loss".

If you have bought a share intraday or own a share (in your demat), and the share has appreciated over your purchase price:
you now want to protect that appreciation,
to do that you place a trailing stop-loss (if it's intraday, make sure it's on the same exchange);
you can keep increasing the trailing stop-loss if the stock's price rises further.
for intraday, you will have to sell that stock to square off.
for the stock which is already in your demat, you have to place a trailing stop-loss all over again the next day....

If you haven't bought anything, the question obviously doesn't arise
but if my order is not executed then i haven't bought the scrip. So what is the use of modifying Stop-loss before buying any scrip.
