I was at this stage a year back and finally followed following steps to get started in options trading. (I don't trade in Futures, hence no comment)
1) Read about basics of options (call, put, ITM, ATM, OTM, Delta etc)
I used internet for this.
2) Make a choice of starting with call or put option (either one will do)
I Started with call options
3) Take one or 2 strategy and understand them well and practice them
I selected 1) naked call options and 2) Call Spreads
4) Get option price calculator (available at many trading sites like sharekhan, icici etc
5) Trade in NIFTY index options in the begining as they are most liquid and option price is more predictable
6) If you want to paper trade then feel free to open an acct with US based option brokerage hosue like thinkorswim, optionsexpress etc. They give you dummy account and excellent training video on various strategies. Option market is quite mature there and you will find the best education. For the sake of practice, pick up any US stock like GOOG/ MSFT and learn from it.

The ground work
a) Decide on the direction of the nifty and forecast your NIFTY price level till expiry, eg.- Curr Price 5100, heading towards 5400 by month end (preferably take the day when sentiment is positive)
b) select the strategy (eg buy naked call 5100 of current month paying the premium of X rs. Lets say there are 20 days to expiry )
c) Calculate expected option price from Calculator giving (5 days from now i.e 15 days to expiry, 10 days from now i.e. 10 days to expiry etc). Say you get Y1, Y2 here.
d) Calculate your expected return for Y1, Y2, Y3 prices
e) Calculate you stop loss (atleast based on the amount that you are prepred to donate to market before closing this trade at loss)
f) Go ahead and place the order and Monitor the trade.

Hope you will learn lot more with this then donating $2500 to someone else.
This is a great forum and there are traders on the forum who will be happy to comment on your trade.
Feel free to send me Prvte Msg if anybody prefers that route.

Happy Trading,
Regards,
AW10

For beginners in Futures & Options (F&O), I could conduct a training session for about 3 hours in Bangalore. I have been in the market almost from the time it has been introduced in Indian Markets. I have been using only a few strategies with fairly simple hedging. I am a Financial adviser & have been fairly successful in F&O for my personal investments.
