dear kedar,

There is no fixed formula. margins are daily prescribed by nse depending on market conditions and that of particular entity. if u trade on TT5 or TTadvance, open "link" at the top bar and eneter span margin details. u would find daily margins applicable for all entities. for hedging, u are charged exposure margin only once i.e. u are charged two span margins and one exposure margin. meanwhile pl let me know your investment size and brokerage paid. I may suggest u better options. if u r new trader, my sincere advice is not to trade in derivatives intitally. first do mock trading only, otherwise u may land yourself in soup.

regards

Hey guys

Marging percentage required for Nifty Trading is about 15% which works out to about Rs 44000 for the Future.

Regarding options for buying no margin is required as the premium is paid upfront.

For selling options you need the margin of 15 percent of the total value of the option sold strike price * quantity * 15 %

Thx
Raj

i accept that in rangebound mkt situation put 's time value will be deterioted , but in this major strong bull run , always short call will be hit. , it will restrict our profit , also that time call ( in which we are short ) will be at high premium , so sqr.of also not profitable & that is why we will be locked .

so combining both together ,
when option at highh time value we should short call & when options at lower value we should purchase put.

thanks

This is not a way every trading site follow, all are having different parameter to charge the margin money for selling of option whether in money or out of money position taken and on going buy premium at that moment of execution of the contract

HI FRIEND, I THINK FOR MARGINS FOR SELLING CALL OR PUT IS NOT SAME AS OF NIFTY FUTURE, IT IS BASED ON STRIKE PRICE ALSO, BUT I DONOT KNOW EXACTLY THAT CALCULATION OF MARGIN CAN YOU THROW SOME LIGHT ON IT....
